Legacy Foundation works with woman's project in Lushoto, Tanzania to develop alternative fuel from biomass, known as fuel briquettes. Photography by Peter Stanley, 2012.

The Mkombozi group in Dochi village, Lushoto, have taken on a project to combat deforestion while providing an alternative source of fuel to charcoal. Biomas fuel briquettes were first introduced by the Legacy Foundation (legacyfound.org) in 2007. This group of vibrant, forward thinking women have been trained as trainers themselves and are starting to be recruited to lead workshops on briquetting around the country.
