Flying into Rubondo Island, in the south west corner of Lake Victoria is as close to a Jurassic Park experience as you can get. Our flight from Mwanza revealed a slash and burn landscape with barren farmland on each small island we flew over. Suddenly, 30 minutes into the flight the pilot started to descend and an oasis of green old griwth forest appeared on Africa's largest lake.
