Legacy Foundation and Fondecion Progressar in Guatemala work on a briquette project for alternative fuels. Sponsored by National Geographic Society. Photography by Peter Stanley, 2012

When making briquettes, preparation of materials takes the most time. Richard Stanley of the Legacy Foundation developed a simple machine that uses a hand crank to grind all materials into shreds.
After testing the machine, the women of Sacapulas discuss it's benefits and modifications that could make it even more efficient and appropriate to their situation.
