]]>This girl came to ask me for a photo as I walked through a dusty, remote market in northern Ethiopia. The only thing being sold in the huge market were clay cooking and coffee pots as well as piles seeds like teff and wheat. It was unlike all other African markets I had visited because there was no produce to be found and I was told that these items could only be found by driving hours to villages in the highlands.

]]>"UHURU" The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, known as Uhuru Point, receives the last rays of light. This image was captured in October, 2010 towards the end of the dry season when fresh snow is rarely seen and the famous glaciers are fully exposed. New studies suggest that deforestation on the coastal side of the mountain is having a devastating effect on ice loss. Without the protective forests, the humid air dries and fails to redeposit moisture as the coastal air pushes on.
