Photography is a link that has connected me to remote environments, unique cultures and spectacular wildlife. I thrive on the challenge of turning remarkable moments into images that inspire an ethic of respect for the natural world and appreciation for diversity. Often this challenge includes overcoming language barriers, learning basic customs quickly and when in doubt getting people to laugh, often at me. This kind of moment was captured in "The Farmers", which won the 'readers choice' award for National Geographic and was published in their September 2011 magazine. I've been fortunate to also have images featured on BBC, CNN, 500px and JPGmag.    

I grew up in Tanzania, Kenya, and Papua New Guinea and moved to the United States where I attended Ashland High School and the University of Colorado. During my studies I returned to Tanzania to study Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. I currently teach Biology and Environmental Science at the International School of Tanganyika, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. When I'm not teaching I'm traveling with my amazing wife Vera... and my camera is always close by.
